Stress Fact -- Not Knowing How to Prevent Stress Can Kill You!

Stress and anxiety related illnesses are on the rise. Life today is more hectic than it used to be, which is taking its toll on our collective health. Cardiac disease, high blood pressure, obesity, depression, and a host of issues related to stress and the immune system are endemic to our society. To avoid becoming yet another statistic of stress and anxiety symptoms, take heed of the following stress facts, because not knowing how to prevent stress can kill you.

Stress Fact #1: “You are not a machine!” The human body was not designed to run nonstop for hours, even days on end, without significant periods of rest in between. You must get at least eight full hours of sleep a night! Anything less and you run the risk of falling victim to serious stress and anxiety related illnesses.

Stress Fact #2: “You are not the center of the universe!” Believe it or not, you are not responsible for everyone and everything. You need and deserve some time for yourself during the day. Stop taking on the cares of the world and everyone in it and start thinking about taking care of yourself a little more. Not doing so can lead to serious stress and anxiety related problems.

Stress Fact #3: “Your body was meant to move!” You were not meant to be an immobile lump. Get out and move, stretch, breath – get your blood circulating. Not only does exercise strengthen your muscles and internal organs, but stimulating the circulatory system also helps to relieve stress and anxiety, and to remove toxins from your system.

Stress Fact #4: “Your body is not made up of 78% coffee and soda-pop!” Depending on your age and sex your body is composed of upwards of 78% WATER. By not drinking several glasses of pure, clean water everyday you are actually putting a great deal of unnecessary stress on your body. You need water for proper brain, muscle, and organ function and not getting enough can leave you feeling sluggish and interfere with the elimination of waste and toxins. To help manage the effects of stress and anxiety, get in the habit of drinking several glasses of water everyday.

There is no doubt that stress and anxiety syndrome are killers. Stop kidding yourself about the toll that stress and anxiety are taking on your physical and mental wellbeing and heed the stress facts you’ve been given. Start making changes now, before it’s too late for you -- you’ve been warned!
